Dili, 15July 2016 – H.E. the President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, on Wednesday welcomed to Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace the ambassador of Indonesia to Timor-Leste, Marcellinus Primanto Hendrasmoro, who came to pay a farewell call on the Head of State.
At the meeting, on behalf of the State of Timor-Leste H.E. Taur Matan Ruak thanked the Indonesian ambassador for his dedication and effort made to strengthen the bonds between Timor-Leste and Indonesia at multiple levels. The Head of State added that he hopes that the good relationship between them will continue to be nurtured with the appointment of a new ambassador.
On this occasion, Ambassador Primanto Hendrasmoro also thanked H.E. the President of the Republic for his direct and indirect support.
“Looking back on these three years as ambassador, H.E. the President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, recognizes that the relationship between the two countries and the two peoples has improved,” Ambassador Primanto Hendrasmoro told the press in Indonesian following the meeting with the Head of State.
According to the diplomat, the reasons for this improvement include the visit of both the former Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the current President Eng.º Joko Widodo to Timor-Leste – the first at the end of his mandate in 2014 and the latter in the first year of office – as well as President Taur Matan Ruak’s State visit to Indonesia.
To conclude, the Indonesian ambassador described Indonesia as a good development partner and pointed out that Indonesia, as a neighbouring country, will continue to support Timor-Leste’s development.
