Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, Bairro Pité, 17 October – The General Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major-General Lere Anan Timur, accompanied by the deputy General Chief of Staff Falur Rate Laek and the acting Chief of Staff Koliati, met with the President of the Republic Francisco Guterres Lú Olo to talk about the current homeland security situation and the F-FDTL.
On the F-FDTL, Major-General Lere Anan Timur said that there are a few budget-related issues, with no budget to fuel their vehicles, but that the forces continue to perform their duties as expected.
On the fact that the President of the Republic has already consulted with the Superior Council of Defense and Security about the position of General Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lere Anan Timur said that he is prepared to accept any decision,
‘I’m always there for the State as long as my health permits. I’m still young and therefore I’m ready to take on any other duties that the State and the government may assign, as has happened in the past, from 1975 to 1999, and as has been the case to date. If I say that I still can, as citizen I have the duty and obligation to serve the State and the people. Therefore I accept any decision made by the President of the Republic as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.’
