Brasilia, 31 October 2016 – H.E. the President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, held on Monday, 31 October, at Royal Tulip Brasília Hotel, a courtesy call with his counterpart from Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang on the occasion of the 11th summit of the CPLP.
The heads of State of both countries took the opportunity to talk about possible future cooperation areas, such as natural resources as discussed during the meeting of the CPLP ministers of natural resources which took place in Equatorial Guinea in September this year.
They also discussed a possible cooperation in the area of education, in particular the support of Timor-Leste to the establishment of the Portuguese language as the official language of Equatorial Guinea and its inclusion in the education system.
To conclude, H.E. Taur Matan Ruak invited his counterpart to conduct a visit to Timor-Leste. A formal invitation will be issued as soon as the Timorese Head of State arrives in Timor-Leste.END
