Lautem municipality, 26 January 2015 – H.E. the President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, this Monday told the community of Fuiloro village, Lospalos administrative post, Lautem municipality, that “citizens play an important role in the national development process”.

I’m happy to visit you in Lospalos, especially in Fuiluro. This visit to Lospalos is my first this year. This year in May I will be moving into my third year of mandate. I have visited about 300 villages and I intend to visit 442 before the end of my mandate,” the Head of State said.

“First of all, I take this opportunity to thank you in general. I would also like to thank the people of Fuilore for their contribution to the freedom and independence of Timor-Leste,” he added.

On the same occasion, the community expressed concern over the inaccuracy of the data regarding the veterans’ time of participation in the struggle, crocodile attacks and the misbehaviour of some of the civil servants, among others.

Speaking about the veterans, the Head of State said that this is an important issue which cannot be solved in the short term, and he called on the veterans to work together towards finding a solution.

As far as the misconduct at State institutions, H.E. the President said that this issue must be addressed so as to prevent this issue from assuming greater proportions and that he hopes that it will not happen again.

“It’s over. In the future you should try to address it. I want Mr. Comander, Mr Administrator and Mr Liurai to solve this issue. I don’t want to hear about it anymore. I want you to contribute to a peaceful Lospalos. You are all responsible for your country. Lospalos is yours. Lospalos will only move forward if you trust each other and listen to each other.”

H.E. the Head of State also said that a crocodile management policy is required to ensure the safety of the local communities and also to increase their income by creating breeding sites which will attract tourists.

In the community dialogue, the Head of State was accompanied by the Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality, Idelta Rodrigues, special guests of the Head of State, the administrator of Hatubelico administrative post, municipality of Ainaro, and Bikeli village chief, administrative post of Ataúro, Dili municipality.
