The President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, appointed 21 new members of the 8th Constitutional Government by Presidential decree no. 53/2020.


Number 2 of article 106 of the Constitution grants authority to the President of the Republic to appoint government members from office following a proposal by the Prime Minister.

The list of appointees includes:

1.Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Use Planning, José Maria dos Reis;

2.Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Joaquim Amaral;

3.Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis Magno;

4.Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Armindo Maia

5.Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry,  José Lucas do Carmo da Silva

6.Minister of the Interior, Taur Matan Ruak

7.Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Víctor da Conceição Soares

8.Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Julião da Silva;

9.Vice-Minister of Justice, José Edmundo Caetano

10.Vice-Minister of State Administration, Lino de Jesus Torrezão

11.Vice-Minister of Health, Bonifacio Mau Coli dos Reis

12.Vice-Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, António Guterres

13.Vice-Minister of Trade and Industry, Domingos Lopes Antunes

14.Vice-Minister of Community-based and Cultural Tourism, Inacia da Conceição Teixeira;

15.Vice-Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Abilio Xavier de Araújo;

16.Vice-Minister of the Interior, Antonino Armindo

17.Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment, Alarico de Rosário

18.Secretary of State for Cooperatives, Elizario Ferreira

The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 24 June, at 4.30 p.m. at Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace.
