President Francisco Guterres Lú Olo calls on all citizens to participate in the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence.
In a meeting the Minister of State Administration, Miguel Pereira Carvalho, the President of the Republic called on the Timorese people, especially the community members of Liquiçá, to actively participate in the 28 November celebrations.
The raising and lowering of the flag will take place in every municipality and will be attended by members of the 8th Constitutional Government. In Liquiçá, the ceremony will take place at Kampu Pilila.
After the meeting with the Head of State, Miguel Pereira Carvalho told journalists that citizens must feel that they are part of this celebration which will strengthen national unity.
In addition to presiding over the national flag-raising ceremony and delivering a speech, the President of the Republic will decorate 39 veterans of the fight for national liberation.
According to the Minister of State Administration, the commemoration of this historic date will also include sport activities, a fair which was inaugurated yesterday, a thanksgiving mass on 27 November at Liquiçá Vila church, and concerts.
For the commemoration of the Proclamation of Independence, the Ministry of State Administration has allocated 300 thousand dollars to each of the 12 municipalities and the Special Administrative Region of Oe-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA).
