The President of the Republic, J. Ramos-Horta, met with the organization of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), led by the Executive Secretary, Zacarias Albano da Costa and his delegation, this Wednesday.

During the meeting, the CPLP Executive Secretary, Zacarias Albano da Costa, reported to the Head of State of Timor-Leste on the work carried out recently, especially in the area of bilateral cooperation within the CPLP.

The former Timorese leader who led the CPLP also appreciated the state of Timor-Leste for showing its goodwill to work together with the ministerial lines within the CPLP. Regarding the CPLP Games that are planned to be held in Timor-Leste, Zacarias informed that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is carrying out preparations and the MNEK is also accompanying these processes until the games take place in a few years.

Zacarias also highlighted that his current presence in Dili is to continue strengthening CPLP’s work with Timor-Leste through its active participation in CPLP activities, including various meetings held. Before meeting with the President of the Republic, the CPLP team first presented a work report to the current Council of Ministers.

Finally, the former Minister in the IV Government expressed President Ramos-Horta’s support for the activities and programs within the CPLP, especially those related to CPLP’s regional and global policies, stating, “The Head of State fully supports and has been accompanying CPLP activities,” said the 2007-2012 Government Member.
