Paris, January 24, 2024, During his visit to Paris this week, Timor-Leste President J. Ramos-Horta conveyed his position on the ongoing demarcation of the land border with Indonesia in Oecusse. President Ramos-Horta reiterated his confidence in the negotiating team led by Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão. He argued that while signing the final border treaty agreement is important, there are still reasons for continued discussions. Dili, January 29, 2024, Through the Civil Society and Social Affairs team of the Presidency of the Republic, President J. Ramos-Horta recently provided support to a family with disabilities in Bidau Village, Dili. This family, led by 75-year-old João Camões, has been struggling since Camões fell ill during the COVID-19 pandemic and could no longer work. Camões’s wife, 66 years old, Beatris da Silva Gomes, has been trying to sustain the family but it’s difficult because two of their children also have mental disability conditions. This family has not yet received help from outside and lives in very difficult conditions.
