Ramos-Horta, confirmed the government’s work, especially in the economic sector related to agriculture, with the II Vice-Prime Minister and Minister for Rural Development and Community Housing, Mariano Assanami Sabino, and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Forestry, Marcos da Cruz, on Friday.

The II Vice-Prime Minister informed that in the near future, the Head of State of Timor-Leste will make a state visit to the People’s Republic of China, so the Head of State wants to confirm Timor-Leste’s cooperation with China in the area of agriculture, including the work of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Forestry during the IX Government’s two-year mandate, on Friday.

“Agricultural development is important, such as dams and irrigation, and how to modernize the agricultural sector,” said Assanami after the meeting with the President of the Republic on Friday.

During this time, President J. Ramos-Horta’s concern has been greater for the agricultural sector to increase the economic income of the people, so in visits to foreign countries, he always seeks ways for the State of Timor-Leste to receive support for investment in the agricultural sector from these nations.
