Ermera & Ainaro, June 14 & 17, 2024. President J. Ramos-Horta recently visited the municipalities of Ermera and Ainaro as part of his regular agenda to provide direct assistance to vulnerable communities across the nation.

In Ermera, specially the village of Talimoro, the President inaugurated a new house built for a vulnerable family funded by the Presidency’s program. During this event, President Ramos-Horta emphasized that although helping the vulnerable is a government responsibility, his initiative aims to provide more direct and immediate assistance to those facing difficult situations.

The Head of State also spoke about his efforts to help communities, including nutrition, education and health assistance programs. He said he brought doctors on his visit to provide health assistance to communities when needed.

In his remarks, the President of the Republic urged the youth, especially members of martial arts groups, to refrain from criminal activities. Referring to recent incidents in Portugal and England, the President said: “The martial arts group is not contributing anything to your personal development.”

The following day, President Ramos-Horta continued his journey to Ainaro municipality, Mau-Ulu village to distribute similar assistance packages of essential food supplies to vulnerable communities there, including tree planting activities as an example to conserve and protect our nature.

The President’s visits to communities aim to identify and urgently assist those most in need across the nation. Ramos-Horta’s visits to Ermera and Ainaro provided support to families through housing, essential supplies and access to health care.
