Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, April 3, 2024, President J. Ramos-Horta officially swore in Pascásio de Rosa Alves as the new Deputy for the Prosecutor General of the Republic at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace.

The President of the Republic decrees no. 38/2023 at 16 of May 2023, after hearing the Superior Council of the Public Prosecution Service, in accordance with article 86, paragraph 1) and article 133 no. 6 of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, in conjunction with article 193 of Law no. 7/2022 of May 19, which approved the Statute of the Public Prosecution Service.

Pascásio de Rosa Alves, First Class Prosecutor, is appointed as Deputy to the Prosecutor General of the Republic, for the Central Office of State Litigation and Collective and Diffuse Interests. He will serve a three-year term as Deputy to the Prosecutor General under the Ministry of the Public Prosecution Service.

In his new role, Pascásioa’s primary task will be overseeing state interests and defending state assets related to high-level contracts and agreements made by the government. This sensitive position is key to safeguarding Timor-Leste’s legal and State Interests in major deals.

Pascásio’s appointment fills a crucial role in the government’s legal apparatus as it negotiates and defends its rights over major contracts and deals over the next three years. His long experience as a prosecutor will be called upon in this new heightened responsibility.
