President of the Republic, J. Ramos-Horta received a high-level delegation of Indian business leaders and investors at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace today. Accompanied by Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to India, Karlito Nunes, the delegation paid a courtesy call to the Head of State to present their mission of exploring bilateral trade, investment, and partnership opportunities across the country.
The visiting delegation comprises representatives from approximately ten enterprises spanning diverse sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education, infrastructure, tourism, mining, and oil and gas. The investors are engaging with key national institutions, including TradeInvest Timor-Leste, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste (CCI-TL), the Vice Prime Minister, and line ministers of Health and Agriculture to evaluate the domestic investment ecosystem, including planned cooperation with Star King Medical Centre (SKMC) to deploy specialist medical practitioners.
President Ramos-Horta warmly welcomed the delegation’s commitment and strong interest in investing in Timor-Leste, highlighting the country’s strategic trajectory and emerging economic potential within the region, particularly as the nation advances its integration into ASEAN. The President underscored Timor-Leste’s openness to high-quality foreign direct investments that support national diversification, capacity building, and sustainable economic development.
